Declan Burke

Declan Burke currently serves as the Director of Group Strategy at SSE plc since September 2023. Prior to this role, Declan held several positions at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), including Director of Nuclear Projects & Development and Director of Clean Power Strategy & Deployment from November 2015 to September 2023. Declan was also a Non-Executive Director at the Low Carbon Contracts Company from January 2020 to September 2023, and served as Deputy Director at the Department for Energy and Climate Change from 2013 to 2015, overseeing the Contract for Difference for renewable technologies. Declan's earlier experience includes serving as Executive Director at the Shareholder Executive and as Vice President in M&A at Deutsche Bank, focusing on various sectors. Declan earned an MEng in Avionic Systems Engineering from the University of Bristol and completed the Major Projects Leadership Academy at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
