After obtaining an BEng in chemical engineering from McMaster University, Hamilton and an MSc in neuroscience from Queen’s University, Kingston, Dr. Bursztyn graduated with a MD degree also from Queen’s. She completed her ophthalmology residency at Western University in 2014, followed by a fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Currently she is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Ophthalmology and Clinical Neurological Sciences at Western University, Ontario.
Dr. Bursztyn’s clinical interests include pituitary tumours and chronic concussion. Her research interests are optic disc drusen, for which she is a member of an international consortium. Dr. Bursztyn is a strong advocate for women’s rights, and is a founding member of the Women in Neuro-ophthalmology committee, a branch of the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society. A former varsity wrestler and squash player, she currently enjoys cycling and climbing.
As the current President of the Professional Staff Organization at St. Joseph’s Health Care London, she has Board responsibilities as well as being a member of the Health Care Ethics Committee and Medical Advisory Committee for St. Joseph’s Health Care, London.
