Thomas van Oppens

Thomas Van Oppens is an experienced professional currently serving as Alderman for HR organization, IT, waste disposal, student affairs, and animal welfare, as well as a City Council Member for stad Leuven since January 2013. Previous roles include Graduate Teaching Assistant at KU Leuven, Credit Risk Analyst at KBC Bank & Verzekering, and various teaching positions. Thomas has also held significant political roles, including Member of the political council for Groen and President of Jong Groen Leuven. Educationally, Thomas has earned multiple degrees from KU Leuven, including a Master in Economic Sciences and a Master in Policy Economics, following an Academic Bachelor in Revalidation Sciences and Physiotherapy. Additionally, Thomas has experience as a self-employed photographer and a student research assistant, focusing on cost-benefit analysis for tramways in Flanders.
