Bessy Mahopo

Bessy Mahopo is a seasoned technology executive with extensive experience in strategic execution and governance within the banking sector. Currently serving as the Chief Information Officer for the CIB Transformation Programmes at Standard Bank Group, Bessy focuses on delivering digital and engineering value for CIB Transaction Banking. Previously, Bessy held CIO roles at FNB South Africa and MotoVantage, and an IT Executive position at WesBank, overseeing IT governance, strategy execution, and vendor management. Bessy's multifaceted career also includes various positions at institutions such as Absa, Microsoft, and Mutual & Federal, as well as a solid academic background with degrees in Computer Science and Computing from the University of Pretoria and the University of South Africa, complemented by industry certifications including CRISC and TOGAF.
