Michael D Penders is an experienced fire safety professional currently serving as a Fire Marshal for The State of New York since September 2017, where responsibilities include responding to emergencies, conducting fire investigations, and participating in code compliance reviews. Simultaneously, Penders holds the position of Deputy Fire Coordinator for the State of Connecticut, assisting in the planning of regional fire assets for emergency incidents. With a background that includes over 19 years as an Operations Supervisor/Paramedic at American Medical Response, Penders has provided oversight of emergency medical services and responded to major emergencies requiring incident command. Additional experience includes roles as an Adjunct Professor of Fire Science at Anna Maria College, Firefighter/Paramedic at Guilford Fire Department, and Fire Instructor at the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy. Penders holds multiple degrees, including a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University and a Master’s in Public Administration from Anna Maria College, and is currently pursuing a degree in Construction Engineering at The University of Kansas.
