Stewart founded Stewart Milne Group; his main role now is in supporting the strategic direction of the organisation and overseeing the performance of the senior team. He advocates an open and encouraging culture that takes advantage of commercial opportunities, which, paired with his leadership acumen, supports the business in meeting the corporate goals and objectives.

Stewart is a renowned business leader in the North East of Scotland, but his impact reaches much further than this. Starting-out, specialising in tenement flat renovations in Aberdeen, Stewart was determined to minimise the normal 3-month disruption to homeowners to three days. He achieved this through the adoption of a systematic, team approach when the company moved into housebuilding in the mid 70’s, they adopted a similar approach using timber systems, and timber systems has been at the heart of what his business does ever since. Leading the UK in this sector and driving conversation around modern methods of construction.

From construction to football - Aberdeen Football Club means a lot to Stewart not only because he is a lifelong fan, having held the post of Chairman for the past 22 years, stepping down in December 2019. What he learns from the Football World, he takes to the business and vice versa. If you pass the Chairman's office regularly, you're guaranteed to hear him say "what we achieve, we achieve through our people." And this team spirit and honest communication are felt across the business every day.

Stewart's determination and dedication are as strong as ever, even after nearly 45 years of leading the business. He has his first boss to thank who said he'd never make it on his own, doomed to fail, something he more than dispelled in his first few years in business.
