Joanne C. Gerstner

Joanne C. Gerstner is a seasoned sports journalist and communications expert with extensive experience across various platforms. Currently serving as an author on Substack since November 2022, Gerstner also holds the position of Brandt Fellow Sports Journalist in Residence at Michigan State University, where mentoring students and teaching advanced sports journalism is a focus. As a Fulbright Specialist with the U.S. Department of State, Gerstner engages globally on media, journalism, women, and sports training initiatives. Co-author of the award-winning book "Back in the Game," Gerstner has contributed to prestigious publications such as The New York Times and maintains a communications consultancy through Gerstner Media LLC. Additional roles include content contributions for the US Olympic Committee's website and involvement in a Michigan task force to enhance sports opportunities for women and girls. Gerstner's academic credentials include a Master of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Oakland University.
