Carol MacFarlane

Carol Macfarlane currently serves as the Clinical Governance Lead at SYNLAB UK & Ireland since July 2021. Prior to this role, Carol held positions at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust as the Quality, Compliance and Assurance Lead, leading the Incident Investigation Team and the Business & Admin team within the Trust’s Safety and Effectiveness Department. From October 2013 to May 2020, Carol was the Clinical Governance Manager at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, overseeing Governance, Risk, Compliance, and Patient Safety across various services. Earlier roles included Clinical Governance Manager for Children & Young People's Services and interim management positions in pathology, diagnostics, and cancer governance at South London Healthcare NHS Trust. Carol began their career at Guy's and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust as the Blood Sciences Governance Manager. Educational achievements include multiple MSc modules in Governance and Risk Management, Advanced Quality Management, and an MSc in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Greenwich, as well as a BSc in Biological Sciences from the University of Strathclyde.
