Markku-Juhani Saarinen

Markku-Juhani Saarinen is a Professor of Practice at Tampere University, contributing to the Network and Information Security Group with a focus on applied cryptography and hardware/software security engineering. Prior to this role, Markku-Juhani served as a Staff Cryptography Architect at PQShield, where expertise in designing side-channel resistant Post-Quantum Cryptography was developed. Other professional experiences include positions as an Independent Consultant with Lab 1339 Ltd., a Senior Principal Security Engineer at Arm, and a Principal Cryptographer with DarkMatter LLC, among various academic roles, including research fellowships and visiting positions. Markku-Juhani's educational background includes a Ph.D. in Information Security from Royal Holloway, University of London, and an M.Sc. in Scientific Computing from the University of Jyväskylä.
