Glen Padassery joined TSSA’s Board in October 2020 and is a member of the Safety and Regulatory Affairs Committee. Glen is currently the Executive Vice President, Policy and Chief Consumer Office for the newly created Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA). He is responsible for working across core regulatory areas to develop rules regulating the following sectors: property and casualty insurance; life and health insurance (including auto insurance rates); credit unions and caisses populaires; mortgage brokers; health service providers (related to auto insurance); pension plans and financial advisors/planners. In addition to leading the strategic policy function, he also has responsibility for the Innovation and the Consumer Office roles within the organization.
Prior to that, he was the Assistant Deputy Minister of Consumer Protection Ontario (CPO) in the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services where he was responsible for leading overall provincial policy and execution for approximately 50 regulatory statutes spanning Consumer Protection, Public Safety and Business Law. In addition, he had oversight of 12 Delegated Administrative Authorities that administer Consumer Protection and Public Safety legislation on behalf of government in areas such as real estate, funeral services, electrical safety, new home warranties, travel industry, motor vehicle sales, Ontario wine appelation and Condos.
His previous board experience includes serving as a member on the Board of Directors for Tarion Warranty Corporation and the Canadian Motor Vehicle Arbitration Plan (CAMVAP).
Glen has over 20 years in the public sector, with extensive policy, program design, consumer protection expertise and experience.
