Nicola Watchman Smith, PhD, PFHEA, currently serves as the Director of Student Learning & Academic Registry at Teesside University, having held various roles within the institution since September 2021, including Acting Director and Deputy Director. Nicola is also a RAISE Committee Member and an Advisory Committee member for Degree Awarding Powers at The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education. As Co-Vice Chair of the Corporation at New College Durham, Nicola contributed to governance from August 2021 to August 2023. Prior experiences include roles at Advance HE as Head of Teaching Excellence Awards, various external examiner positions, and a Senior Lecturer position at Liverpool John Moores University. Nicola holds two PhDs in Music (Sociology of) from The University of Salford and the University of Leeds, a Master of Arts in Popular Music Studies from the University of Liverpool, and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with Psychology from the University of Liverpool.
