Jiří Wiedermannbelongs to the first generation of Czech Czechoslovak computer scientists. His professional interests include the design and analysis of algorithms, algorithmic systems, artificial intelligence, artificial life, cognitive systems, computational complexity theory, data structures, distributed computing, embodied robotics, information technology, intelligent systems, machine learning, non-standard computational models (amorphous systems , molecular calculations, nano-calculations, super-Turing calculations), computational networks, neurocomputations, parallel calculations, computability, philosophical aspects of informatics, etc. Recently, he has been building the theoretical foundations of artificial intelligence, especially algorithms and models inspired by higher cognitive functions such as consciousness or understanding. He has published two monographs and more than 150 articles in professional journals and conference proceedings in the area of his professional interest. Some of his results were included in monographs and textbooks in the field of informatics.
