For 25 years Julia has advised and collaborated with utilities, solution providers and government agencies on business models, grid modernization, electrification and clean energy policies, strategies and programs. She has served as the President and CEO of the Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA) since 2004.
Under Julia's leadership, SEPA rebranded from the Solar Electric Power Association to the Smart Electric Power Alliance in 2015. She also led the merger of the organization with the Association for Demand Response and Smart Grid (ADS) in 2015 and Smart Grid Interoperability Panel (SGIP) in 2017. She has grown SEPA from a team of one to a team of fifty. Julia is the founder of Solar Power International (SPI), North America's largest energy industry trade show, and is Board Co-Chair of the organization that now manages SPI, Energy Storage International, and other brand verticals under the umbrella of RE+. She is Chair of the Board of Directors of the Clean Energy Leadership Institute and serves on the boards of the California Mobility Center, and Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships. Previously she served as Co-Chair of the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority’s Transformation Advisory Council, as a member of the E Source Advisory Board and on the boards of GRID Alternatives Mid-Atlantic and Interstate Renewable Energy Council.
Previously, Julia worked for ICF International where she supported the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s implementation of the ENERGY STAR program. She advised manufacturers of energy efficient lighting, HVAC, and refrigeration products on sales and marketing strategies to leverage the ENERGY STAR brand.
Throughout her career, Julia has worked closely with the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and numerous state commissions and agencies.
