Melody Zavala

Melody Zavala is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in international development and educational initiatives, currently serving as a Senior Advisor at The Asia Foundation since 2001. In this role, Melody provides leadership and surge support across various departments and projects. Previously, Melody held positions including Senior Director and Director of the Books for Asia program, where strategic leadership was provided for regional education initiatives and the largest U.S.-Asia book donation program. Melody has also contributed to community-based environmental restoration projects and educational program development in both local and international contexts. Prior experience includes serving as Country Director for Catholic Relief Services in Russia and supporting humanitarian initiatives in India. Melody holds a Master’s degree in International Relations and Public Affairs from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Government from UCLA.
