Nazrul Islam is an experienced professional with a strong background in program management and advisory roles, particularly in the areas of health, education, and governance. Currently serving as Program Director and Senior Program Advisor at The Asia Foundation since January 2005, Nazrul has led initiatives funded by various international partners to reduce violence against women and promote good governance through religious leaders in Bangladesh. Previous roles include Chief of Party and Deputy Chief of Party for the USAID-supported Leaders of Influence Program, where responsibilities included project management and resource oversight. Prior to this, Nazrul worked with the Royal Norwegian Embassy as an Education Program Advisor and managed technical units for Pathfinder International’s Rural Health Service Delivery Program. Early career experience at The Asia Foundation involved overseeing the USAID-funded Population Program, focusing on family planning and education initiatives. Nazrul holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from the University of North Carolina and two degrees in English Literature from Rajshahi University, Bangladesh.
