Denise Halliday

Denise became a member of the AAMT team in January 2023. She brings with her eight years of experience working in schools in mathematics classrooms and in leadership roles. A committed believer that mathematics is for everyone she is interested in promoting engagement, enjoyment and a positive attitude to mathematics learning across the spectrum of student achievement levels. She keenly explores pedagogical strategies to challenge gifted and talented learners and to embed authentic contexts into learning to foster mathematical thinking and numeracy for students who may have struggled in the past.

Before she saw the light and became an educator, Denise trained in professional services with a Big 4 firm, then moved into the banking field. Working in the UK, Canada, New Zealand and Australia she honed her skills in research and analysis of complex data and risks. Leveraging her background in finance, Denise is especially passionate about developing money sense and a sound understanding of financial mathematics in all young people.
