James Barabas

James Barabas is an experienced technical leader with a strong background in software engineering and research. Currently serving as Technical Lead and Member of Technical Staff at 6 River Systems since April 2018, James has previously held the position of Senior Software Engineer at The MathWorks, focusing on tools for charts and data visualization. James co-founded Delightfully and served as an engineering lead from June 2012 to June 2014. Academic contributions include work as a Graduate Research Assistant at the MIT Media Lab, where James developed architecture and algorithms for real-time holographic television and studied depth perception in viewers of holograms. Earlier experiences include internships with Mitsubishi Electric Research Labs, Idealab, Honda Research Institute, and Deutsche Telekom, specializing in visualization and object recognition. James holds a Ph.D. and a Master’s degree in Media Arts and Sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Cornell University.
