Deborah earned her MSW degree from the Fordham Graduate School of Social Services with a concentration in clinical studies. Deborah interned with Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) where she assisted and supported families involved in the foster care system and where she had been engaged as a volunteer for over 6 years. In her advanced year placement she interned with the New York Psychotherapy and Counseling Center, providing group and individual therapy at a day treatment facility in Queens for adults with serious and persistent mental illness. Deborah comes to The Bronx Defenders from Greenhope Services for Women, a residential and outpatient drug treatment program for women in East Harlem where she was the coordinator of services for their mother and child program. Deborah is a member of the Coalition for Women Prisoners Incarcerated Mother’s Committee where she advocates for the rights of women involved in the criminal justice system by helping mothers and children maintain bonds throughout the devastating ordeal of incarceration.
