Alicia Paini is a Scientific Officer at the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) since December 2023. Previously, Alicia held the position of Principal Scientist and Lead Systems Toxicology at esqLABS GmbH from October 2021 to November 2023. From October 2015 to September 2021, Alicia served as a Scientific Project Officer and Biophysical Modeller at the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission, following a role as a Systems Biology Postdoc at the same institute from April 2012 to April 2015. Alicia began their career at Wageningen University, first as a Volunteer Scientist from November 2007 to March 2012 and then as a PhD student focused on risk assessment of low doses of naturally genotoxic compounds. Additionally, Alicia worked as a PhD student at Nestlé S.A. from November 2007 to December 2011 and began as a Trainee in the Chemical Food Safety Group at the Nestlé Research Center in 2007. Educational qualifications include a Postgraduate Education in Toxicology from VLAG at Wageningen University, a Master's in Food Safety from Wageningen University & Research, and a Laurea in Food Science and Technology from Università degli Studi di Parma.
