Susan Atherton is a longtime animal advocate based in San Francisco and co-chair of the HSUS Board of Directors. She is the chair of Humane Society International’s board and a member of the Humane Society Legislative Fund board.
Atherton also serves as a board member of the San Francisco SPCA and on the board of trustees of University of California-Riverside as its immediate past chair. She co-chairs the UCR Student Success Initiative, a multimillion-dollar capital campaign focused on student needs and experiences. She also advocates for the University of California system as a member of the UC Fiat Luxe Alliance. As part of her commitment to making the world a more compassionate place for all animals, Atherton encourages the next generation of students to serve as inspired, impactful members of society.
In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her family and friends, whether it is watching wildlife on the beautiful plains of Africa or tasting incredible food and wine in Italy.
