Alexander S. Preker

Commissioner, Global Commission On Pollution, Health And Development at The Lancet

Alexander S. Preker serves as the President & CEO of Health Investment & Financing Corporation, focusing on seed funding and venture capital for health care technology startups. In addition, Alexander is a Commissioner for the Global Commission on Pollution, Health and Development and an Associate Member of the International Hospital Federation. As an academic, Alexander holds positions as an Executive Scholar and Adjunct Associate Professor at both The Mount Sinai Hospital and Columbia University, previously teaching health policy at New York University. Alexander’s extensive background includes roles at the World Bank as Chief Economist of Health, Nutrition and Population and at the International Finance Corporation as Head of Health Industry & Investment Policy. Alexander earned a PhD in Economics from The London School of Economics and Political Science and has a medical background with degrees from McGill University and The University of British Columbia.
