Ana Mateus

Ana Mateus is an experienced editorial professional with a strong background in scientific research and publishing. Currently serving as Executive Editor at The Lancet since April 2021, Ana previously held senior editorial roles at Springer Nature, including at Nature Cell Biology, Nature Metabolism, and Nature Communications, where responsibilities encompassed evaluating and summarizing scientific research, shaping journal strategies, and overseeing the peer review process. With a robust academic foundation, including a PhD in Cell and Developmental Biology from the University of Cambridge, Ana has also contributed to various aspects of scientific research, demonstrated through roles as a Research Associate and Postdoctoral researcher, alongside an advisory position at the TRANSMIT project.
