Terri Seitz Parrish is Chairperson of the Baltimore County Commission on Disabilities and the Maryland Alliance of Disability Commissions. In 1977, she became a wheelchair user after sustaining a spinal cord injury in a vehicle accident. She was able to return to the classroom as an elementary school teacher, became the Program Director on the National Spinal Cord Injury Hotline and ended her career as the Director of Children and Youth Ministries at a local church. She enjoys advocating for people with disabilities as a Board Member at the Image Center for Independent Living, the Ellene BRIT Christiansen Memorial Fund and WEAN, a mentoring program serving women and young ladies with disabilities. She is a mentor for the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation and is a trainer for new employees at the UMROI Kernan Rehabilitation Center. She holds an Elementary Education Degree from Towson University and a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Johns Hopkins University. Her most rewarding success has been raising two children who are both graduates of the University of Maryland.
