Georgia Bartels-Newton

Georgia Bartels-Newton currently serves as a Pro Bono Specialist at The Legal Aid Society since July 2024. Prior experience includes roles as a Case Manager at Kaplan Hecker & Fink LLP from April 2022 to June 2024, and as a Litigation Project Assistant at Sidley Austin LLP from June 2021 to April 2022. Georgia has also contributed to the Urban Institute as a Research Intern, focusing on various justice-related projects, and acted as a Teaching Assistant for a course on Families and Social Inequality at Washington University in St. Louis. Additional experience includes positions as a Complaint Counselor at the ACLU of Missouri, a Shift Lead at Ben & Jerry's, and a General Counselor at Camp Lanowa for Homes for the Homeless. An early internship as a Youth Program Coordinator Intern at the National Alliance on Mental Illness Montgomery County involved social media development and advocacy for a suicide prevention initiative. Georgia holds a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree in Sociology from Washington University in St. Louis, earned in 2021, following a high school diploma from Thomas Sprigg Wootton High School in 2017.
