Bert Bruggeman

Bert Bruggeman is an accomplished leader with extensive experience in technology and sustainable practices. Currently serving as Chairman of the Supervisory Board at The Ocean Cleanup since 2020, Bert focuses on advanced technologies to eliminate plastic from oceans and rivers. As founder of GEFIRA Solutions, Bert drives innovation and commercialization of disruptive ideas. Previous roles include Chief Executive Officer at Biomason, where Bert led initiatives for eco-friendly construction, and Chief Operating Officer at Tesla, enhancing sustainable energy efforts. Additional experience encompasses executive positions in companies such as SVTC Technologies, SunEdison, and Cypress Semiconductor, highlighting a strong background in operations and manufacturing. Bert holds a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from KU Leuven and recently completed further education at Brown University.
