Davita L. Watkins

Davita L. Watkins, Ph.D., serves as an Associate Professor at The Ohio State University since July 2022, following a similar role at the University of Mississippi from July 2014 to 2022. Watkins' research focuses on the design and synthesis of organic semiconducting materials, including furan-based derivatives and oligothiophene compounds for photovoltaic devices, as well as the characterization of self-assembling Janus dendrimers. Prior academic experience includes an Assistant Professor position at the University of Florida and a postdoctoral role in oligothiophene electron systems, supporting engineering applications in organic photovoltaics. Academic training began with a Bachelor of Science degree from Vanderbilt University, followed by a Doctorate of Philosophy in Organic Chemistry from The University of Memphis. Prior to higher education roles, experience includes laboratory management and chemical analysis at Eurofins Scientific Incorporated.
