John H. Herman

John is a partner in the real estate and product liability and environmental groups of Faegre Baker Daniels of Minneapolis. He has been involved in environmental causes since the 1970s, working for the enactment of many of Minnesota’s major environmental laws for Project Environment (the predecessor of the Minnesota Center for Environmental Advocacy) and for open space protection and funding, including creation of the Metropolitan Parks and Open Space program, Tettagouche State Park, the Root River Bike Trail and the Cedar Lake Bike Trail. In his private practice, John has represented developers of numerous large scale projects involving housing, industrial, commercial, cultural, historic and mixed uses. He served on the Legislative Citizen’s Commission on Minnesota Resources, which allocates the environmental trust fund from the state lottery from 2004 to 2012. John graduated cum laude from Yale University (New Haven, CT) and earned his J.D. from Harvard University (Cambridge, MA). He lives in Scandia, MN and is a part-time hop farmer.

John also served on the Minnesota Advisory Board from 2002 – 2011.
