Maya K. Tsekenis

Maya K. Tsekenis is an experienced professional with a diverse background in social work and education. As a Clinical Social Worker at the NYC Department of Education since July 2008, Maya conducts clinical assessments for children in special education and manages social history interviews and vocational assessments. Maya also served as an Assistant Principal overseeing GED programs for at-risk students and has experience as a High School Counselor focusing on academic and personal support. In addition to current roles, Maya is an Executive Board Member of the Social Work & Psychologist Chapter of the United Federation Of Teachers, advocating for the interests of school social workers and psychologists. Maya's educational background includes a Master's Degree in Social Work from Fordham University, a Master's in Educational Leadership from Brooklyn College, and specialized training in clinical practice with adolescents from New York University. Maya also works as a Latin Dance Instructor, combining dance expertise with a commitment to fostering student development.
