Valara Sample has extensive experience in residential education and campus life, currently serving as the Executive Director for Residential Education and Campus Life at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga since April 2005. Previous roles include Director of Housing & Residence Life and Assistant Director for Residence Life at the same institution, and Area Coordinator at The University of Memphis. Valara's career in higher education began at Indiana State University as an Area Director, followed by a position as Live In Coordinator at Piney Woods Country Life School, and an internship at Mississippi State University. Early professional experience includes a teaching role at William Sullivan High School. Valara is pursuing a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis with a focus on Higher Education Leadership at East Tennessee State University, and possesses an Education Specialist degree in Counselor Education from The University of Memphis, along with a Master of Science in College Student Counseling and Personnel Services and a Bachelor of Science in Educational Psychology from Mississippi State University.
