From 2004 until his retirement in September 2008, Mr. Tanaka served as the worldwide president of Biosense Webster, Inc., a Johnson & Johnson company and market and technology leader in the field of electrophysiology. He joined Biosense Webster, Inc. as its U.S. president in 1997. Previously he held senior management positions at Sorin Biomedical, Inc., including president and CEO, and leadership roles at CooperVision Surgical and Shiley, a division of Pfizer, Inc. He serves on the boards of directors of BioSig Technologies Inc., a company developing a biomedical signal processing platform and VytronUS Inc., a company developing ultrasound technology in the diagnosis and treatment of complex cardiac arrhythmias. Mr. Tanaka also served as a director of TomoTherapy Inc. until its acquisition in 2011, Volcano Corporation until 2014, Coherex Medical Inc. until its acquisition in 2015, and Epix Therapeutics Inc. until its acquisition in 2019.
