Maria Kousi

At Third Rock, Maria focuses on the creation of new companies, specifically in the spaces of genetics and neuroscience. Maria has a PhD in human genetics of neurological disorders, and she is passionate about elucidating the mechanisms that lead to disease and make the finely balanced neuronal networks break. She is excited to be part of such a fast-paced industry that continually pushes boundaries and hopes to harness the knowledge emerging through advances in the field of genomics to drive precision medicine approaches that will transform the lives of patients.

Maria is proud of having provided a molecular genetic diagnosis to two patients she knows since before she was a scientist. Outside the office, she enjoys long distance running.
