James Guthrie

James Guthrie has worked in a variety of roles since 2007. In 2007, they were an Assistant Web Developer at Iglu-Dorf GmbH. In 2010, they were a Member of the Board at AMIV (Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Student Society). In 2011, they were a Teaching Assistant at ETH Zurich. In 2012, they were a Security Engineering Intern at Open Systems AG. In 2014, they were a Junior Engineer at Open Systems AG. In 2016, they were a Software Engineer and Chief Technology Officer at True Wealth. Currently, they are a Senior Software Engineer and Senior Software Engineer II at Timescale, where they are working on Promscale, the open source backend for Observability data, primarily developing a Postgres Extension in Rust to support data storage and querying.

James Guthrie received a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology from ETH Zürich in 2013, and a Master's Degree in the same field from ETH Zürich in 2015.
