Ayana B. Thurston

Ayana B. Thurston currently serves as a Procurement Specialist and Grant Writer for the Town Of Dumfries since November 2024. Prior to this role, Ayana held various positions in Albemarle County, including Legal Services Coordinator and Paralegal from July 2018 to November 2024. Other experiences include working as a Field Organizer for Dan Ward for Congress and an intern in the Office of Congressman A. Donald McEachin, where responsibilities included research, administrative tasks, and constituent engagement. Ayana also worked as a Teacher Assistant and Newsletter Editor at First Steps Infant Development Center and completed a legal internship at Slater & Smith, PLLC. Earlier experience includes serving as a Dining Room Assistant at Dogwood Village Nursing Home. Ayana earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Virginia Commonwealth University and is currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration at Virginia Tech, starting in July 2021.
