David Owens

David Owens is a seasoned communications professional with extensive experience in journalism and public relations. Currently serving as a Communications Specialist for the Town of Vernon since August 2020, David is responsible for writing press releases, managing the town's website, and advising on media relations, while highlighting the community's notable attributes. Prior to this role, David had a lengthy tenure at The Hartford Courant from January 1994 to August 2020 as a reporter, covering breaking news, courts, and local politics. David's earlier experience includes reporting for The Register Citizen and serving as a visiting instructor at Marietta College, where David taught journalism courses. David holds a Master’s degree in Journalism from Columbia University and a Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communication, and History from Marietta College.
