Electrochemical Cell Engineer at Toyota Material Handling

Jon Owejan is an accomplished Electrochemical Cell Engineer at Toyota Material Handling since September 2024, previously serving as Principal Engineer for MEA Development at Plug Power from January 2021 to August 2024. Co-founder of Phase Innovations LLC, Jon Owejan led technical and business development for water vapor transfer systems and demonstrated their feasibility to key stakeholders. An Associate Professor at Alfred State College from December 2012 to December 2020, Jon Owejan delivered engineering courses and directed the Energy Storage and Conversion Lab while conducting applied research. Earlier, Jon Owejan contributed as a Senior Research Engineer at General Motors from January 2004 to December 2012, leading electrochemical transport research and collaboration with national labs. Jon Owejan began their career at NASA as a Mechanical Engineering Co-op, focusing on structural analysis and robotics. Jon Owejan holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, along with MS and BS degrees from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
