Phil Tenney

Phil Tenney is a seasoned technology professional currently serving as a Lay Member of the Council and Audit & Risk Assurance Committee at the University of Sheffield since March 2023, and as Chief Information and Technology Officer at Travis Perkins plc since January 2021. Previous roles include Chief Digital and Technology Officer and CIO at Asda (February 2013 - January 2021) and IT Services Director at Wm Morrison Supermarkets Plc (February 2010 - February 2013). Notably, while at HBOS (February 2007 - January 2010), Phil Tenney held positions as Head of Technology and Head of Operations, leading significant initiatives that included a £90 million budget management and the implementation of innovative IT service management strategies. Earlier experience includes a Senior Executive role at Accenture, where responsibilities involved delivering major IT change programs for large clients. Phil Tenney holds a PhD and BEng in Electronic Engineering from the University of York.
