Saheed Awan is the current Chairman at TreasurySpring. Prior to that, they were self-employed. Awan's most recent previous company was Euroclear SA/NV, where they served as the Global Head Collateral Management & Securities Finance Products from May 2012 to November 2014.
During their time at Euroclear, Awan was responsible for conceiving and managing the company's ground backing open infrastructure for collateral management, called the Collateral Highway. By the end of 2014, nine CCPs, five domestic markets, and over twenty new collateral receivers had signed on to access the Highway. This growth led to Euroclear's triparty collateral management services increasing assets on the Highway from €320 billion at the start of 2013 to €580 billion by the end of 2014.
In addition to overseeing the growth of the Collateral Highway, Awan also launched GC Access to lend high quality liquid securities clients with assets in Euroclear as part of the Collateral Highway suite of products.
From July 2012 to September 2014, Awan negotiated with the DTCC to set up a joint venture for collateral management services. This included negotiating with members of the Board of Directors of the DTCC and setting-up and chairing a US market advisory group. The DTCC Euroclear Global Collateral was officially launched in September 2014.
Under Awan's leadership, participation in Euroclear's annual Collateral Management Conference increased from an average of 150 delegates pre-2012 to over 600 by May 2014.
Saheed Awan has an MBA from the University of Bradford and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) from Loughborough University.
