Tunelark's mission is to empower educators to make music education more fun, effective, and accessible. We use technology (like our game-based adaptive digital curriculum) to help educators teach more students more effectively, making music education more affordable and high-quality in the process.

Our go-to-market offering is a video chat lesson service with highly vetted instructors who are trained to help students fall in love with music and sharpen their skills with a mix of traditional pedagogical techniques as well as digital tools designed to maximize learning and enjoyment of music in between lessons.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Building a service to empower music educators and inspire the next generation of music learners
  • As a member of our leadership team, you would be partnering with our CEO to scale our product, team, and company
  • Leading our product & engineering team and guiding our technical direction
  • Individually contributing as a senior-level engineer, at least for the first 6-12 months
  • Working on your own as well as collaborating via video chat with other team members
  • Code reviews
  • Coordinating QA work
  • Point of contact between engineering and product/design team
  • Supporting project scoping and quarterly planning process
  • Unblocking engineers, helping with project management, and assigning work to team members

What We’re Looking For

  • 6+ years of software engineering / engineering management experience
  • Ideally: Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Completely fluent in English
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with an international, multicultural team
  • Engineering leadership experience
  • Experience at a Series Seed or Series A stage startup
  • Experience at a large tech company or late-stage startup with a reputable engineering team

Skills That Will Help You In The Role

  • Professionalism, clear communication, and an ability to give and receive constructive feedback
  • An ability to design and manage complex programs and systems without dropping the ball
  • Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, React, Postgres, HTML, CSS
  • Full-stack development best practices and experience
  • Although musical talent is not required, a love of music will help you in this role

Compensation

  • $100,000 - $150,000 in cash compensation
  • $350,000 - $800,000 in equity compensation (based on the seed round valuation, so lots of upside potential if we grow 10-100x)
