Professor Muchnik is currently the Scientific Director of the Yandex School and Director of the Data Analysis Department (Yandex is the Russian equivalent of Google), and was a founder of the Y-DATA academy. The program is localized to enhance the Israeli tech community and the global AI ecosystem.Professor Muchnik is also Professor Emeritus at Rutgers University in New Jersey, where he
earlier was a professor at the Rutgers Computer Science Department. He has taught Graduate courses in Machine Learning and Bioinformatics. His first work on image recognition was published in 1964, proposing for the first time to use integral kernels to build adaptive nonlinear classifiers. Subsequently, they became one of the main elements of all modern methods of machine learning. Over his career, he has published 5 books, 2 textbooks, 8 monographs, and 200 papers in referenced journals and conference proceedings.
