Michael Rubenstein

Michael Rubenstein (he/him) is an internet entrepreneur and executive and trailblazer at the intersection of technology, media, commerce, and marketing. Michael is passionate about bringing powerful ideas to life and building innovative, inclusive, values-driven company cultures. He specializes in marketplace strategy, internet business models, win-win partnerships, developing talent, and building high-performing organizations that create global impact.

Prior to co-founding and serving as President at OpenStore, Michael played a key role in building and selling two of New York’s most iconic tech companies: AppNexus, acquired by AT&T in 2018, and DoubleClick, acquired by Google in 2008. At AT&T, Michael was President of AppNexus, rebranded as Xandr, where he oversaw go-to-market for the company’s digital ad platform, which delivers hundreds of billions of monthly ad impressions to people around the globe. Prior to AT&T, Michael spent nearly a decade as President and Board member at AppNexus, and was a chief architect of the company's growth from startup to global leader in programmatic advertising, with over 1,000 employees across 27 offices in North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia and Australia. Prior to joining AppNexus, Michael founded and served as General Manager of DoubleClick Ad Exchange (AdX), a pioneering multi-billion dollar marketplace for programmatic advertising, after joining DoubleClick through the acquisition of Toronto-based martech and permission-based email marketing startup FloNetwork, later rebranded DARTmail.

Michael actively advises and invests in the next generation of entrepreneurial internet ventures, and serves as Board member at companies including Teikametrics (retail optimization platform for e-commerce sellers), Estrella Media (multi-platform Spanish-language media company), and Altimar Acquisition Corp (special purpose acquisition company). He has also served on non-profit Boards including the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and Global Cities (a Bloomberg Philanthropy). He is active in community service work, and was UJA-Federation of New York's 2019 Tech Division honoree. He holds a BA from McGill University and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
