Julian Guerrero Jr.

Julian Guerrero Jr. currently serves as the Director of the Office of Indian Education at the U.S. Department of Education, a position held since August 2020, where responsibilities include administering the Indian Education Program under ESEA to support the educational and cultural needs of American Indians and Alaska Natives. Prior to this role, Julian was the Executive Director of American Indian Education at the Oklahoma State Department of Education, focusing on implementing the Oklahoma consolidated state plan for American Indian education and collaborating with tribes on career pathways for students. Experience also includes serving as Lead Partner on Native American Affairs & Strategic Planning at Fundamental Strategies and Associate Director for the TEDNA Native Youth Community Project. Julian's earlier roles include Director of Native American Affairs for Joe Dorman for Oklahoma and Research Assistant in the University of Oklahoma's Department of Political Science. Educational credentials include a Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Affairs & Administration from the University of Oklahoma.
