Conor Brew is a research scientist at UL Research Institutes, focusing on material characterization through powder X-ray diffraction and ensuring the quality of results for internal stakeholders. Previously, as a materials engineering intern at Applied Thin Films, Inc., Conor automated measurement techniques for ceramic matrix composites and developed a quantitative method for testing crater sizes. An undergraduate researcher in the David Dunand Research Group, Conor studied the impact of selective laser melting on aluminum alloys, while earlier co-op experience at Applied Thin Films involved fabricating ceramic matrix composite panels. Conor's engineering internship at Walden Environmental Engineering included compiling and organizing proposal-related materials. Conor holds a Master of Science in Materials Science & Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in the same field from Northwestern University, along with a high school diploma from St. Dominic High School.
