Romain Desclous is an experienced communications professional with a focus on external relations and media in humanitarian and electoral contexts. Currently serving as a Senior External Relations Officer for UNHCR in Bangladesh and as a spokesperson for UNHCR in West & Central Africa, Romain has held various roles that underscore a strong background in communications and knowledge management within UN agencies, including UNDP and ActionAid. Romain has contributed to crisis response efforts, such as being a communications specialist during the UNDP's rapid response to tropical cyclone Winston, and has served as an election observer in several countries. Romain holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Sussex and an equivalent Master's degree in Political Sciences and International Relations from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Aix-en-Provence.
