Lieven Desomer

Lieven Desomer is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in immunization and child health, currently serving as a Senior Immunization Specialist at UNICEF HQ since September 2015. Previously, Lieven held positions including Chief Emergency and Deputy Chief Polio in Pakistan, Chief Child Survival and Development in Haiti, and Senior Program Officer for polio eradication in India, demonstrating a strong track record in managing and implementing health programs. Early career roles included Immunization Specialist in Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Somalia, as well as key positions with Médecins Sans Frontières in Somalia and Kenya. Lieven holds a Master of Public Health from the University of Liverpool and a Bachelor of Nursing from HOGENT.
