Dr. Estrella Olivares-Orellana

Dr. Estrella Olivares-Orellana is an accomplished educator and administrator with extensive experience in bilingual education and multicultural curriculum development. Currently serving as the Director of Multilingual Learners at Uniondale UFSD since July 2023, Dr. Olivares-Orellana has also held various instructional roles at esteemed institutions such as TC, Columbia University, and Hunter College since 2012. Contributions to the Esteem Journal as a Contributing Editor highlight a commitment to sharing educational insights and experiences. With a rich background as a Bilingual Science Teacher and roles in initiatives like the Bilingual Common Core Initiative with NYSED, Dr. Olivares-Orellana has focused on supporting language learners through innovative teaching practices and curriculum design. Academic qualifications include a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Teaching from Teachers College, Columbia University, complemented by degrees in International Educational Development, Science Education, and Biochemistry.
