Krystel Abi Habib

Krystel Abi Habib is a seasoned Human Rights Officer with extensive experience at the United Nations, currently serving in the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) since July 2017, focusing on field operations and the Working Group on the use of mercenaries, with prior roles in investigations related to Venezuela and Libya, as well as torture mandates. Previous experience includes positions at UNHCR as an advisor on refugee status determination and at the United Nations Human Rights as a gender coordinator. Krystel has contributed as a visiting lecturer at Universidad de Chile and has held various legal and research roles at organizations such as the International Center for Transitional Justice and Amnesty International Mexico. Education credentials include multiple advanced law degrees from prestigious universities, including a Master of Laws from the University of California, Berkeley, with a focus on International Human Rights Law and Transitional Justice.
