Sarhang Hamasaeed

Sarhang Hamasaeed serves as the Director of Middle East Programs at the United States Institute of Peace since February 2011. Prior to this role, Sarhang held positions including Senior Program Officer at The World Bank for a brief period in June 2010, and as a short-term consultant for the Kurdistan Regional Government-Iraq/Council of Ministers from February 2008 to October 2009. Additional experience includes serving as Deputy Director General of Information Technology at Research Triangle Institute (RTI) International from 2003 to 2004, Program Manager at Los Angeles Times in 2003, and Correspondent and Translator for Kurdistan Save the Children from June 1997 to July 2002. Sarhang's academic credentials include an MA in International Development Policy from Duke University and a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from Zankoy Sulaimany.
