Sergio Rico is a distinguished academic and public servant with extensive experience in emergency management and strategic planning. Currently serving as a member of the faculty at the Universidad de Ciencias Empresariales y Sociales since August 2019, Sergio also held significant roles within the Presidency of the Republic of Uruguay from March 2020 to September 2023, including Director Nacional and Director of the Sistema Nacional de Emergencia. Prior to these positions, Sergio was a professor at the Centro de Altos Estudios Nacionales from March 2009 to March 2022 and contributed to military education as a professor at the Instituto Militar de Estudios Superiores from December 2010 to November 2018, where Sergio also served as Sub Director for a brief period. Sergio's academic credentials include a Master's degree in Political Science from the Universidad de la República and additional studies at prestigious institutions such as CHDS and the Universidad de Montevideo.
