Donald S. Burke

Donald S. Burke is a prominent figure in public health and medicine, currently serving as Dean Emeritus and Distinguished University Professor of Health Science and Policy at the University of Pittsburgh's Graduate School of Public Health, where tenure began in 2006. Burke's distinguished career includes positions such as Dean of the Graduate School of Public Health, Jonas Salk Chair in Population Health, and Director of the Center for Vaccine Research. Prior to Pittsburgh, Burke held notable roles at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health as a Professor of International Health, and at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research as Associate Director and Chief of Virus Diseases and HIV/AIDS. Additionally, Burke served as President and Board Chair of Epistemix until April 2024. Educational credentials include a Doctor of Medicine from Harvard Medical School and advanced training in internal medicine from Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston City Hospital.
