Christopher Lape

Christopher Lape is an accomplished musician and educator with extensive experience in orchestral direction and music instruction. Currently serving as the Orchestra Director for Upper Arlington City Schools since September 2017, Christopher also holds the position of Principal Viola with the Newark-Granville Symphony Orchestra. A dedicated independent music instructor since 2000, Christopher provides personalized lessons for violin and viola students, emphasizing technical and musical development. Additional roles include gig coordinator for special events since 2004 and violin/viola performer with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra since 2006. Previous positions include Music Director for Newark-Granville Chamber Strings and Orchestra Director roles at Dublin City Schools and Newark City Schools. Christopher's educational background includes a Master of Music in Viola Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and dual Bachelor's degrees in Music Education and Performance from The Ohio State University.
